Miyuki Okuyama was born in Yamagata, Japan, in 1973, and graduated from the University of Alabama with a master’s degree in fine art in 2002. Since 2008, she has lived and worked in the Netherlands. Okuyama has exhibited in Europe, the Middle East, and Japan, at venues including KADE, Amersfoort, and Museum CODA, Apeldoorn. After beginning her photographic project Dear Japanese in 2012, she became one of the establishing members of the Japanese Dutch Foundation.
