Cricket fans the world over should take a deep breath before they hear who visited us at the Mumbai Lab Friday morning. That’s right, the Master Blaster himself, Sachin Tendulkar, stopped by to have a conversation with Mumbai Lab curator David van der Leer about Tendulkar’s experience growing up in Mumbai—and to engage in discussion and interact with some very excited, happy, smiling children about public space in their city. And, of course, to sign a few autographs.
The cricket superstar shared some interesting details about his life in Mumbai. Did you know, for instance, that bus drivers used to force Tendulkar to buy two tickets on the crowded buses to his cricket practices at Shivaji Park when he was eleven, because his cricket bag took up the space of another person? I guess transportation congestion in Mumbai isn’t just a contemporary issue!
Take a look at the slideshow above to see Tendulkar interacting with Van der Leer and visitors.
